On June 8, Contemporary Amperex Intelligence Technology (Shanghai) Limited (CAIT-SH), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, signed a cooperation framework agreement with Beijing 4Wheels Technology Co., Ltd. (4WHEELS TECH) and Yibin KAIYI Automobile Co., Ltd. (Kaiyi Automobile). Based on the modular battery swapping technology and the CATL Integrated Intelligent Chassis (CIIC), the three parties will develop a three-in-one mode that integrates chassis, whole vehicle design and manufacturing to greatly improve the vehicle development efficiency.

According to the agreement, CATL, 4WHEELS TECH and Kaiyi Automobile will collaborate to leverage their strengths in modular battery swapping, integrated intelligent chassis, and whole vehicle design and manufacturing respectively, and work together to promote vehicle model development, manufacturing, and exploration of new business and operation models.

CATL has combined two of its major innovations, namely modular battery swapping and CIIC technology, for the first time in this cooperation. This innovative combination will enable flexible range configuration and fast charging, which results from CATL’s modular battery swapping solution, and reduced cost and power consumption, which is achieved through highly integrated electric chassis. 

The signing of this agreement will further promote the innovation and implementation of CATL modular battery swapping and CTC (Cell to Chassis) technologies, help partners further improve the vehicle development efficiency and driving range, provide more flexible interior space and application scenarios for end users, and accelerate the realization of comprehensive electrification.
